Casa Panza in Miami – The Best Tapas and Live Entertainment in Town

Casa Panza MiamiThere was so much going on at the Casa Panza Cafe’s Friday Happy Hour. Centrally located in the heart of the Viernes Culturales Eighth Street Monthly Festival, the restaurant is one of Miami’s most happening places!

Known for it’s delectable and diverse authentic Spanish cuisine menu, as well as its fine selections of wines and Best Tapas in Miamiliquors, Casa Panza Cafe is an exceptional place to enjoy the long awaited weekend Happy Hour getaway. The only problem is that you will probably find yourself engulfed in the magic of Casa Panza Cafe way into the late hours of the evening, well beyond the Happy Hour time. The restaurant quite simply is excellence in culinary! An epicurious palace, they offer an extensive & varied list of tapas to choose from while enjoying your wine or cocktail. The tapas we consumed were out of this world, the wines savory to the palette, robust and just perfect.

Casa Panza Spanish Cuisine MiamiCasa Panza Cafe consists of two large and spacious dining areas. The main dining area is designed in an old world Spanish/European motif decorated in bright red colors with Spanish paintings, European vases and wrought iron pieces contained throughout making the restaurant a warm & cozy place to hang out with your friends.

Casa Panza MiamiThe second dining area is immense with a large concert stage and large plasma televisions in it’s four corners, on which Christmas decorations were showing, creating the “it’s the season to be jolly” party mood for the patrons. This Friday the Florida Massage Therapy Association was hosting their Christmas party there. The guests were just having the time of their lives! They were entertained by a Mariachi band and by the wonderful jam & sounds of the restaurant’s in-house disc jockey, Dj Alex playing the best in salsa, merengue, bachata and dance music.

DJ Alex Spins at Casa PanzaDj Alex is an excellent spinner! He picked the perfect selection of songs and has a natural talent for reading the crowd and sensing which are the music choices that are sure to please. He mixes & scratches with precision accuracy as one song blends into the other, setting the mood for party & dance, selection after selection. Dj Alex is a smooth operator. Alex’s transitions between songs are immaculate, spotless & seamless. The dancers never skipped a beat of their rhythm thanks to the suave spinning mastery of Dj Alex. After the guests departed, Dj Alex played a video by Miami’s own, Pittbull, who recorded it in the Casa Panza Cafe second dining facility. It was really neat to not only listen to Pitbull’s song in stereo, but to view the video in stereo-like television on the four corner plasma sets.

Live Entertainment Casa PanzaCasa Panza Cafe is one of the few places in the City, that brings a “dinner show” dining format to the general public. The main dining area’s stage is decked out as a cavern, similar to those found in Spain where folks who are passionate about wine, food and culture gather to listen to music & dine. By far, always, the absolute best dinner show in Miami. Fun times & enjoyment reign superior at Casa Panza Cafe!

This Friday the guests were entertained by “flamenquero” extraordinaire, Juan de Alba. A Spaniard through and through, Juan, with his deep rooted, powerful vocals, performed the most incredible Catalonian Flamenco Rumba song Juan de Alba at Casa Panza in Miamirenditions you will ever enjoy & listen to. In an almost acapella fashion, accompanied only by a spanish guitar, claps, the “castanuelas” (castanets) of a flamenco dancer, and the rhythm of the stomping of their mutual feet, he took the stage by storm. Juan and his flamenco dancer accompaniment have to be one of the greatest flamenco dancers of the millennium! Hands down, one of the most extraordinary flamenco vocalist and dancer of all time. Incorporated into the song & dance routine, is an improvised comedy performance. Juan mingles with the audience in comedic cantor. He jokes with & at them, has them in stitches, and mesmerized in maximum fun and enjoyment as they take in his dynamic show. It’s not surprising that Juan de Alba packs the house each and every Friday and Saturday at Casa Panza Cafe’s main dining area.

Regla Cumba at Casa Panza MiamiJoining Juan de Alba, post-intermission, in the second portion of the show this Friday was the soulful and passionate Regla Cumba, took the stage with Juan. Talk about an explosive blend of Spain meets Africa! Born in Cuba, but residing in Argentina, Regla also interprets & performs in the genre of Flamenco Rumba, with a twist. She has a smooth & lovely tone to her voice and renders a very passionate performance. Together on stage, Regla Cumba & Juan de Alba, put forth a magical fusion of Afro Cuban music with the folkloric music of Spain.

Casa Panza Outside DiningAs if the two dining areas were not super out of this world, the restaurant has outside dining table areas where you can enjoy a fine cigar, a smoke, and also dine. As is customary for Casa Panza Cafe on Viernes Culturales they prepare an amazing Paella, on site, for all Viernes Culturales visitors, whether or not they dine inside the restaurant or not. The visitors receive a very tasty, generous portion of Paella (and for just $5 – it doesnt get better than that!).

Casa Panza ServiceFinally, and most importantly in my book, one of the things that impressed me the most about the restaurant was the impeccable & excellent service we were given. When dining at Casa Panza Cafe, expect to feel like royalty as the management & staff provide it’s patrons with nothing less than royal treatment when they visit. I accidentally dropped my napkin twice and our waiter was there to pick it up & place it on my lap. The food, wines and cocktails were delivered to the table swiftly & as ordered (by the way the tapas & entrees were extremely savory & delicious).

Mabel Oliva - Casa Panza MiamiCarlos Hernandez, Danny Lopez & Mabel Oliva (and their wonderful families) recently acquired this fine establishment. All of these fantastic individuals were present on Friday and made the guests feel welcome & part of the Casa Panza Cafe family. Mabel Oliva, in particular, is an amazing hostess & visited all of the tables during the evening to make sure the guests were enjoying themselves & being attended to appropriately. It is this personal attention that makes your dining experience at Casa Panza Cafe a memorable, will definitely be back for more experience!

Music Miami’s next visit to Casa Panza Cafe will be on December 31st where Braulio, El Pible and other fine entertainers will dress the stage of the main banquet hall for what I am sure will be one of the most memorable & funnest New Year’s eve party in town!
